Official Press Release

March 17th 2020

As promised, we have been monitoring the situation on a daily basis and have an update to our previous correspondence.

Large events and mass gatherings can contribute to the spread of COVID-19 via travellers who attend these events and introduce the virus to new communities.

It has now been recommended to event organisers to cancel or postpone in-person events that consist of 50 people or more and so with that in mind:-

  • HairBiz Forum will be cancelled for 2020.
  • Australian Hair Industry Awards 2020 (AHIA) will be postponed.

We are cancelling Hair Biz Forum with no future date this year due to the fact that we have international guest artists who at this stage would be subject to quarantine on arrival and we are unsure how long this will be in place. Furthermore, we believe we cannot give a guarantee to attendees that any line up announced now or in the future would be able to attend and the safety, health and hygiene of our speakers, hair artists and attendees is paramount.

With the AHIA’s we have decided to postpone. This is an important industry event and we believe it will be able to go ahead in the 2nd half of 2020. We are currently looking at dates and will be able to announce this soon.

We want to support everyone as much as possible and believe our small business hair and beauty community should not have monies, that they may well need, tied up indefinitely and with that in mind we will be refunding all tickets already purchased for both events within the next 10-14 days.

This is a tough time for everyone and we believe our action is in the best interest of our hair and beauty community.

Your sincerely
